“Our chef is from a Michelin 3-star restaurant in Napa Valley. Maybe you’ve heard of it? It’s called the Chinese Laundry!”
Folks who know restaurants are probably chuckling at this quote from my server on a recent night out in Chicago.
If you’re not smiling, well, then you should know, there IS a legendary Michelin 3-star restaurant in Napa Valley, but it’s called The “French” Laundry.
The Laundry is arguably one of, if not the most influential American restaurants. It has lots of famous alumni, but the most germane to Chicagoans is probably Grant Achatz of Alinea.
So now that you know that, if you didn’t already, what if I told you that you could get French Laundry-quality supper club-style food at reasonable a la carte prices in a chill setting in Chicago?
