Was it George Carlin who posited the idea that fuck is just a meaningless word which only has power because we grant it license?

Was it Samuel Jackson and Quentin Tarantino who normalized the word fuck by using it in every third word of dialogue of every movie they ever made together? And some they didn’t make together like Snakes on a Motherfuckin’ Plane?

My money’s on David Chang and Peter Meehan, the Lucky Peach Momofuku fuckers who used fuck in their cookbooks as shorthand for pretending to be like sneering DGAF cool kids who secretly did GAF so much that they promulgated a culture of abusiveness for those who worked with them.
