Today I’m announcing a brand new addition to my Substack publication: The Hunger subscriber chat.
This is a conversation space in the Substack app that I set up exclusively for my subscribers — kind of like a group chat or live hangout. I’ll post short prompts, thoughts, and updates that come my way, and you can jump into the discussion.
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app, now available for both iOS and Android. Chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens.
My first thread is an “Ask Me Anything” - I’ve always wanted this space to be an interactive hub, so I’m excited to speak with you all. Also this week’s review of Le Select brought in a lot of new subscribers and comments and even some debate on social media.
Let me know how you felt about that review or ask me questions about why or how I wrote it. Anything goes! If you work for Le Select and/or you want to disagree with my take, I’m here for that too. Restaurant conversations are always a two way street. I’m just one guy with an informed opinion. Nothing more and nothing less. The goal here is always to be accountable to the audience and the subjects I cover. Throwing bombs and walking away is for dinosaur publications.
Details on how to start with chat below. As always thank you so much for reading.

How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
Lots of great meals but Khmai stands out because there’s only two Cambodian spots in Chicago. It’s really good. Obelix was fantastic.
Is it possible that kasama breakfast is the best meal in chicago right now??
