The Chicago Food Writing Massacre Is Real
In the last few weeks, NBC Food Guy Steve Dolinsky announced he was going to work in the private sector. Time Out Chicago fired its editor and no longer does restaurant reviews. The Chicago Tribune now has a dining critic who has given every restaurant they reviewed this year, except one, 3 stars or higher.
Thoughtful food writing and criticism is dying in Chicago. Frankly, it’s almost dead.
The good news is, there’s a place you can still find it. Last week, over 10,000 food lovers read my most recent review of Feld restaurant. You should join them.
Because I’m asking a favor of you, I’m lowering my subscription price this weekend only. Food writing needs you. I need you.
Thank You and Have a Great Memorial Day Weekend,
Michael Nagrant
