Emma Boldenweck must have been quite the conversationalist, a beauty, or both. A member of a prominent Chicago German cultural society, she traveled to Stuttgart in the early 1890s where she met Emil Eitel Jr.. Smitten with Boldenweck, Eitel left his homeland and moved to Chicago to be with her. His brother Robert said, “Emil Jr. was the first of us to leave the fatherland, and it was all because of a girl traveler he had fallen in love with. She was a Chicago girl.”
